In his book The Logic of Life, French Nobel Prize François Jacob already warned us: "We no longer question life today in laboratories. We no longer try to define the contours of it." Astrobiology does not claim that "real life is absent" (Arthur Rimbaud), nor that it is elsewhere. But astrobiology offers a unique opportunity to re-examine life: on several scales, according to multiple scientific perspectives, including those of the humanities.
